To provide a beam sorting device of a novel configuration.
The beam sorting device comprises: a plane-of-polarization rotator which emits a beam by rotating its plane of polarization; a deflector which is arranged on an emitted beam optical path and deflects the beam to first and second directions; a first beam branching unit which is arranged on the optical path of the beam deflected in the first direction by the deflector, transmits the component in the first polarization direction of the beam, and reflects the component in a second polarization direction that intersects perpendicularly with this; a second beam branching unit which is arranged on the optical path of the beam deflected in the second direction by the deflector, transmits the component in a third polarization direction of the beam and reflects the component in a fourth polarization direction of the beam that intersects perpendicularly with this; and a controller which controls the plane-of-polarization rotator and the deflector so as to rotate the plane of polarization and to deflect the beam incident on the deflector in the first or second direction under conditions that the polarization direction of the beam emitted from the plane-of-polarization rotator is the first or second polarization direction with respect to the first beam branching unit or the third or fourth polarization direction with respect to the second beam branching unit.
