Title:
BEARING ASSEMBLY SPEED SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03140618
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simplify a structure by oppositely arranging an encoder and a sensor assembly so as to provide an output signal proportional to rotation speed of a second race to a first race, in a wheel bearing for an automobile.

CONSTITUTION: In a bearing assembly 12, a rotatable inner race 30 is supported on a stationary outer race 20 through a rolling element 40, and a wheel is mounted to a stud 76 fixed to a flange 36 of the rotatable inner race 30. A sensor assembly 50 is fixed in a hole 28 provided in a flange 26 of this stationary outer race 20, and oppositely, an encoder 60 is fixed in a hole 38 in the flange 36 of the rotatable inner race 30, and its projection 62 is arranged a given distance away from a detector 52 of the sensor assembly 50, and relative rotation of the rotatable inner race 30 to the stationary outer race 20 is detected. Thus, an adequate speed signal can be provided in a simple structure, and maintenance of the sensor assembly can easily be performed.
