To provide a bearing device for an in-wheel motor capable of preventing electric corrosion of a rolling bearing rotatably supporting a rotor of a motor, and preventing malfunction of a rotating speed detecting device.
In this bearing device for the in-wheel motor comprising a cylindrical outer case 2 where the rotor 1a of the motor 1 is fixed to its inner peripheral face, a cylindrical inner case 3 wherein a stator 1b is fixed to its outer peripheral face, the rolling bearing having an outer ring 17 internally fitted to the outer case 2, an inner ring 18 externally fitted to the inner case 3, and a plurality of rolling elements 20 rollably received between the inner and outer rings 18, 17, and a seal 5 mounted just near the rolling bearing, the rolling elements 20 of the rolling bearing 4 are made of ceramics, a magnetic encoder 21 of the rotating speed detecting device is integrated with the seal 5, and sealing plates 12, 13 of the seal 5 are composed of steel plates of non-magnetic body.
