To provide a bearing fixing method capable of positioning a bearing relative to a rotary shaft with a worm in high accuracy along an axial direction and fixing the bearing to the rotary shaft inexpensively and in a short time.
In a shaft forging process, when forming a worm portion 12 on a shaft element by a forging process, a flange part 11f whose outside diameter is larger than a core fixing part 11a is formed integrally with the shaft element in association with the forging process of the shaft element between the worm portion 12 and the core fixing part 11a. In the worm formation process, a worm 13 is formed on the worm portion 12. In a positioning step, a ball bearing 18 is positioned relative to a rotating shaft 7 by inserting the ball bearing 18 into the rotating shaft 7 until it abuts on the flange part 11f. In a fixing step, a periphery of the rotating shaft 7 is caulked to form a caulking part 11g on the opposite side of the flange part 11f relative to the ball bearing 18, and the ball bearing 18 is held and fixed between the caulking part 11g and the flange part 11f by pressing the caulking part 11g to the ball bearing 18 side.
