Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve durability of an oil seal in the bearing structure of a pump shaft for an engine by surety preventing a pressure rise in the void between the oil seal and the bush.
CONSTITUTION: This bearing structure on the water pump 18 side is provided with a bush 8 fitted to a crankcase 6a and rotatably supporting a pump shaft 4, and an oil seal 10 built in a crankcase 6b on the outward of the bush 8 and sealing the outer circumferential face of the shaft 4. A nearly annular void 12 is formed around the pump shaft 4 between the oil seal 10 and the bush 8. The crankcase 6b is provided with a bypass hole 16 communicating together a gear chamber 14 and the void 12.
