Abstract:
To prevent a slide occurring between an inner peripheral rotating body and a belt member in starting rotation of a belt member, compared with a case where a stopped belt member is rotated with an inner peripheral rotating body.SOLUTION: A fixing device comprises: a belt member that fixes an image formed on a recording material; an inner peripheral rotating body that has an inner peripheral surface of the belt member overlaid thereon and rotates the belt member; an outer peripheral rotating body that can move between a contact position in contact with an outer peripheral surface of the belt member and a separation position separated from the outer peripheral surface, and rotates the belt member at the contact position; and a rotation starting unit, when the belt member starts rotation, rotates the belt member with the outer peripheral rotating body arranged at the contact position, and subsequently moves the outer peripheral rotating body toward the separation position and rotates the belt member with the inner peripheral rotating body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
