Title:
BENDABLE SUPERCONDUCTOR CABLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02270219
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To permit bending without impairing the physical perfectness of a conductive element by furnishing a slender and long conduit holding a superconductive filament, and installing a slender and long lid having a thickness enough to make location of the neutral surface of a reinforcement. CONSTITUTION: A housing itself has a slender and long conduit 28 which holds a superconductor 18 and forms a channel part. The conduit 28 has side walls 34, a floor part 36 and opening 40, and a slender and long lid 30 having a specified thickness is attached to the opening 40 by fastening with winding. The conduit 28 is made of soft copper while the lid 30 is made of hard type copper. The hard copper is located outside the bend through utilization of the relative strength of the lid 30 with the conduit 28 when the cable 20 is to be bent, and the lid 30 is put in the tensile stressed condition, and the neutral axis of the cable 20 is moved toward the lid 30 of hard copper having a high yield strength. Accordingly the part with conduit 28 as a majority of the cable 20 is put in a compressed condition by the movement of the neutral axis toward the lid 30. This allows bending while the tensile stress given to superconductive material 24 is minimized.
