PURPOSE: To improve efficiency in a bending operation of a bar-shaped body and to diversify bending patterns in a bending machine provided with bending arms having force point members freely oscillatable with respect to stationary fulcrum members for the bar-shaped body by making changeable the positions of the force point members.

CONSTITUTION: A pair of benders A on a machine frame 1 are moved so as to be attached and detached by a device 2 and have pair of stationary fulcrum members 8 facing each other in the state of contacting or approaching with or to both sides of a reinforcing bar 3 fixed by a mechanism 4. The benders have also the bending arms provided with force point members 14 which are freely oscillatable around the center between the members 8 and 8 or the part near the same. The members 14 are made changeable to a bending position and a non-bending position deviated from the bar 3 by a changing mechanism. The bending of the bar 3 as shown in, for example, the figure, is accomplished by positioning the bending center of both devices A at the outer most bending point (a) of the bar 3 and bending the bar 3 by an angle θ1. The members 14 are then changed in such a way that the bending direction is reversed with the bending center as a ponint (b) and the reinforcing bar is bent by an angle θ2 and is bent similarly by an angle θ3.
