PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having excellent solubility and dispersibility in a binder resin and useful as an acceptorlike compound for electrophotographic photoreceptors.

CONSTITUTION: This compound of formula I [R1 is H or an alkyl; R2 is a (substituted)alkoxycarbonyl, a (substituted)cycloalkoxycarbonyl, a (substituted) carbamoyl or cyano]. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a 3-halogenobenzanthrone derivative of formula II (X is Br or I) with an ethylene derivative of formula III in the presence of a group VIII transition metallic compound.
