Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound inhibiting phospholipase A2 powerfully, thus useful as an anti-inflammatory agent.

CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is expressed by formula I {R1 is H, OH, a 1-20C alkyl or a 1-20C alkoxyl; R2 is CO-CH=CHCOOH, CO-C=CCH2OH, CH=C(R3)COOH [R3 is cyano, COOR5 (R5 is a lower alkyl), etc.], etc.; A is O or methylene; (m) is 10-18}, e.g. 3-(2-hydroxy-4-octadecylbenzoyl)acrylic acid. The compound of formula I can be obtained by reaction between a compound of formula II and an acid anhydride of formula III (R7 is H, a halogen or phenyl) in an inert solvent in the presence of a Lewis acid.
