Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound having an oxidation resistant characteristic, and capable of being blended with a cosmetic material such as a lotion, cream, etc., and a medicine, and also simply and rapidly prepared in a high yield.
CONSTITUTION: This benzo-heterocyclic compound is a compound of the formula [(n) is 1-3, R1 is SR4, OR4 (R4 is a 1-6C alkyl); R2 is OH, a 1-6C alkyl or a 1-6C alkoxy; R3 is H or a 1-6C alkyl, provided that when R3 is H, and (n) is 2, 3, R1, R2 can not be OCH3 simultaneously], e.g. 2,3-dihydro-5-methoxy-6- hydroxybenzofuran. The above compound (R1 is a 1-6C alkoxy; R2 is OH or a 1-6C alkoxy) is obtained by performing a 3C+3C Michael-Claisen annealing reaction of an α-methyllactone with an anion of an α-ketothioacetal to obtain a keto-enol mixture, then partially oxidizing the mixture to obtain a dialkylthioacetal, converting the same to a dialkoxyacetal in the presence of mercuric acetate and further hydrolyze.
