Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a new benzofuranone capable of suppressing a pattern capable of being read with an infrared ray detector.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. expressed by formula I (R1 and R2 are each H or an optionally substituted 1-20C alkyl, R3 and R4 are each H or an optionally substituted 1-6C alkyl, R5 is H, CN, COOR10 or COR10 (R10 is H or a 1-6C alkyl) and R6 to R9 are each H, NR1R2, NO2, a halogen, optionally substituted 1-6C alkyl or optionally substituted 1-6C alkoxy), for example, 6-(1,3-dioxoindan-2- ylidene)-2-oxo-3-(4-amino-3,5-dimethylphenyl)-2,6-dihydrobenzofuran is produced. The compd. is obtained by allowing a compd. expressed by formula II to react with a compd. expressed by formula III (M is H or metal). The compd. is used for coating a transfer sheet used at a dye diffusion thermal transfer printing method or is also useful as an infrared ray absorber at the time of optical data storage and security printing.
