Abstract:
To obtain a new compound useful as a radical generating agent and a polymerization initiator, especially a photopolymerization initiator.
This compound is shown by formula I (R1 is a 4-8C tertiary alkyl, a 9-12C aromatic substituted tertiary alkyl; R2 is a 1-4C alkylene) such as 4-(t-butylperoxycarbonylmethyl)benzophenone. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting 1mol of a benzophenone skeleton- containing chloroformate of formula II [4-(chloroformyl methyl)benzophenone, etc.] with 0.5-3.0mol of a tertiary hydroperoxide (t-butylhydroperoxide, t- amylhydroperoxide, etc.) in an organic solvent (benzene) in the presence of 0.5-5mol of a base (sodium hydroxide) at -10 to 60°C.
