Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R is H, alkanoyl, benzyloxycarbonyl or other protecting group of amino group).

EXAMPLE: 3-Acetylamino-2,3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one.

USE: Intermediate of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals and other industrial chemicals. Useful e.g. as a raw material of a hypotensive agent having angiotensinase-inhibiting action.

PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula II (R1 is same as R excluding H) with 2-aminobenzenethiol to obtain the compound of formula III, and cyclizing the compound or removing the R1 after cyclization.
