NEW MATERIAL:A benzothiazepine derivative shown by the formula (R1 is 5W 20C straight-chain or branched long-chain higher alkyl; one or both of R2 and R3 are hydroxyl group or lower alkoxy), its various isomers and its various salts.
EXAMPLE: 5-t-Butoxycarbonylmethyl-3-( L )-( 1-carboxyhexylamino-2, 3-dihydro-1,5- benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one.
USE: Having very high inhibitory actions on an enzyme capable of converting angiotensin and pharmaceutical characteristics such as antihypertensive action, etc., useful as a remedy for hypertension, and a remedy for a circulatory disease.
PREPARATION: For example, a compound shown by the formula II and a compound shown by the formula III are dissolved in a proper solvent such as water, methanol, etc., processed into a corresponding Schiff base, and reduced with a proper reducing agent, to give a compound shown by the formula I .
