NEW MATERIAL:Benzyl2,3-diamino-2,3-N,N'-carbonyl-2, 3, 5, 6-tetradeoxy-5, 6- didehydro-6-C-methoxycarbonylethylene-β-D-ribohexofuranoside of formula I and benzyl2,3-diamino-2,3-N,N'-carbonyl-2,3-dideoxy-β-D-allofuranoside of formula II.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of (+)-biotin and starting material of various synthetic organic compounds. Especially, it is very useful for selective synthesis of (+)-biotin of formula III, a natural form of a vitamine.
PREPARATION: D-Glucosamine of formula IV is used as a starting material and a compound of formula II is prepared through several steps. The product is oxidized with periodic acid and then, made to react with [3-carbomethoxy-propen-(2)- ylidene (1)]triphenylphosphorane to give the compound of formula I.
