PURPOSE: To obtain a novel benzyloxyhydrazone derivative which manifests excellent effect as a microbicidal agent for agriculture and horticulture, particularly against tomato's late blight, cucumber Botrytis cinerea or barley powdery mildew with reduced dose.
CONSTITUTION: This derivative is represented by formula I [X is CH--OR5, N-OR5 (R5 is a 1-6C alkyl); Y is a 1-6C alkoxy, a 1-6C alkylthio, amino or a 1-6C alkyl-substituted amino; Z is a hologen, a 1-6C alkyl, a holo-1-6C alkyl; (m) is 0-4; R1 is H, a 1-6C alkyl a halo-1-6C alkyl; R2-R4 are specific groups], for exampl-e, 2-methoxyimino-2-[ l-[N'-[1-(4-chlorophenyl) ethylidene]hydrazono]ethoxymethyl]phenylacetic monomethylamide. The compound of formula I is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula II (Hal is a halogen) with a compound of formula III in the presence of a base or a silver compound, in an inert solvent (DMSO) at -40°C to room temperature for 30 minutes to 48 hours.
