Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for curing a disease in the field of cell differentiation and proliferation, especially a skin disease relating to a keratinization disease and an ophthalmological disease such as corneopathies, etc.
SOLUTION: This biaromatic compound is expressed by formula I (X is CO-O, CO-S, CO-NH, CO-C≡C or CO-CH=CH, etc.; Ar is 1,4-phenylene, 2,6- naphthylene or thiophene, etc.; R1 is COOH, CHO or CH2OH, etc.; R2 is H, a halogen or a 1-20C alkyl, etc.; R3 is OR4, etc.; R4 is H, CH3 or CH2-O-CH2CH2- OCH3, etc.), e.g. 4-[1-adamantyl)-4-methoxyphenylthiomethyl] benzoic acid. The compound of the formula I is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a phenol compound of the formula HO-Ar-R1 in an anhydrous medium and a solvent such as THF and in the presence of a tertiary amine.
