Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented polyester film excellent in flatness not having waves at the edge and in the middle, not only immediately after the formation of the film but also after the elapse of time.
SOLUTION: In a method for producing a biaxially oriented polyester film with a thickness of 6μm or less, the film after biaxial stretching is heat-treated within a tenter to be cooled. In this case, the film is passed through a first chamber into which air with a temp. of 120-160°C is blown at air velocity of 2m/s or more over 3sec or more and subsequently passed through a second chamber of which the atmospheric temp. is controlled to 35-80°C over 2sec or more.
