PURPOSE: To make a spoke type bicycle wheel sufficiently stronger and lighter as a whole.

CONSTITUTION: Each spoke 3, which is extended between a locked ring 20 axially ranging outward from the peripheral edges of the flanges 21, 22 of a hub 20 and a rim, has a locked head 34 formed one-side end of a linear shaft and engaged in a locked manner with respective spoke holes 24 radially penetrating through the locked ring 20. The spoke 3 has the shaft, which consists of the larger diameter portion 36 ranging from one end to a certain point and the main portion, and the locked head 34 formed at the end of the larger diameter portion 36. It is formed as an aluminum or its alloy made linear spoke as a whole. A number of spokes 3, when extended between the hub 2 and the rim, have the tension approximately the same as that of a steel made spoke, when extended.
