To provide a teraazaporphyrin compound highly soluble to organic solvents.
The teraazaporphyrin compound, being tetrabicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene-fused tetrapyrazinoporphyrazine, is obtained by the following process: Bicyclo[2.2.2]octa-5-ene-2,3-carbonate is hydrolyzed and then oxidized, and subsequently condensed with diaminomalenonitrile to form 5,8-dihydro-5,8-ethanoquinoxaline-2,3-dicarbonitrile, which is then refluxed under heating in the presence of magnesium and a catalytic amount of iodine. This teraazaporphyrin compound is useful for devices to which organic semiconductors are applicable, including resistors, rectifiers(diodes), switching devices(transistors, thyristors), amplifying devices(transistors), memory devices, chemical sensors, solar cells, photoelectric current-generating photodiodes and phototransistors.
