Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a binder which improves remarkably the strength of a casting mold by bringing the resulting product of reaction of furfuryl alcohol and isocyanate compd. into co-condensation with furfuryl alcohol, urea and phenol by formaldehyde.
CONSTITUTION: Aliphat. isocyanate, arom. polyisocyanate, etc. are used as an isocyanate compd. and are used at about 0.05W1.00 molar ratio with furfuryl alcohol to form the resulting product of reaction. The resulting product and compd. of ≥1 kind selected from furfuryl alcohol, urea and phenol are brought into co-condensation by formaldehyde to form a binder. The binder is used at about 0.4W3.0pts.wt. by 100pts.wt. refractory aggregate.
