To provide a bioadhesive nanoparticle comprising a biological substrate that attaches to insects, teeth, bones, nails, chitin, feathers, scales, mucous membranes, skins, hairs, plant tissues, etc., and a pharmacologically active compound (e.g. a medicinal compound for human or veterinary use, an agricultural chemical (insecticide, herbicide, fertilizer, etc.), a cosmetic agent or a consumer product (colorant, flavoring agent or fragrance)), and methods for production and use of the bioadhesive nanoparticle.
The bioadhesive nanoparticle composition comprises active substance particles having an effective average particle size of about 4,000 nm and at least one cationic surface stabilizer (which prevents aggregation of the nanoparticles) adsorbed to surfaces of the active substance particles. The production method of the composition is chosen from the group consisting of wet pulverizing, controlled precipitation and homogenization.
