NEW MATERIAL: A compound represented by formula I, wherein R2 and R3 or R4 and R5 together form an optionally substituted hydrocarbyloxy chain; the benzene ring is optionally substituted at any or each of the remaining sites R5, R6, or at R2 or R4; (n) represents 0 or 1; and X represents cyano, COOH, or a salt, an ester or an amide derivative thereof.
EXAMPLE: A compound, wherein R2 and R3 together form O-C(CH3)2-CH2, R4, R5, and R6 are H, X is CN, and (n) is 1.
USE: Biocidal compound. Agent for killing fungi, bacteria and/or nematodes. The compounds can be used for repelling fungi, bacteria, yeast and/or nematodes.
PROCESS: For example, the compound represented by formula I can be obtained by reacting a compound represented by formula II and cyanamide.
