PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cationic surfactant with excellent biodegradability while retaining microbicidal properties.SOLUTION: There is provided a compound represented by the general formula (1). [In the formula, L is an oxygen atom or -NH-; R is a hydroxy group, nitro group, C1-6 alkyl group, halogen atom, aldehyde group, or -COOR'; R' is a hydrogen atom or C1-6 alkyl group; n is an integer from 10 to 18; m is an integer from 0 to 5, where, if m is 2 or greater, the multiple R can be identical or different; and X is a halogen atom.]SELECTED DRAWING: None
