PURPOSE: To obtain the new compounds useful as medicines having an inhibitory effect on inflammation or bone degradation, an antithrombotic action, an anticoagulant action and an inhibitory action against tumor and its metastasis.
CONSTITUTION: These are the compounds of formula I [E is 2-3C alkoxycarbonyl or benzyloxycarbonyl; Ra is amidino or the like; Rb is H, alkyl, hydroxy or alkoxy; A is a bond, CH2, CO, CH2CO or the like; B is -NR4-CH2CH2-X-(CH2)n-, -NR4-CO-(CH2)m- or the like; R4 is H, alkyl or the like; R5 is H or the like], e.g. 4-amidino-4'-[4-(cyclohexyloxycarbonylmethyl)-piperidinocarbonyl]-biphenyl. These are obtained by esterifying carboxylic acid derivatives of formula II with alcohols of formula HO-R8 (R8 is 2-6C alkyl, phenylalkyl, alkenyl or the like).
