Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new bisazo compound useful as a charge-generating pigment in electrophotographic photoreceptor practical as a high speed copying machine, etc., and having high sensitivity, especially laminate type photoreceptor.
CONSTITUTION: A bisazo compound expressed by formula I (R is H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or nitro). The bisazo compound is obtained by successively reacting a diazonium salt compound expressed by formula II (X is anion functional group) with a coupler expressed by formula IV in two stages or filtering a diazonium salt compound expressed by formula V or formula VI obtained by initial coupling reaction to isolate the diazonium salt compound and further reacting the resultant diazonium salt with a coupler corresponding to each of these diazonium salts.
