Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compsn. giving a substrate for an IC package having superior discoloration resistance, light shielding property and external appearance whose color is nearly regular, by adding SiO2 and a specified colorant to Al2O3.
CONSTITUTION: A black alumina ceramic compsn. is obtd. by adding 1.5W3.0wt.% SiO2 as a sintering assistant and 5W10wt.% colorant consisting of MnO2, TiO2 and Fe2O3 to 88W92wt.% Al2O3. The compsn. is molded into a desired shape, calcined at 1,300W1,400°C under oxidation, calcined at 900W1,000°C in a reducing atmosphere and sintered at 800W900°C under oxidation.
