To reduce a manufacturing cost of a front panel by reducing a material cost of a material for a black matrix and by simplifying a manufacturing process of the black matrix.
The front panel of a plasma display panel comprises: an upper substrate 210 formed of a transparent substrate; stripe-shaped transparent electrodes 220 formed on predetermined positions of the upper substrate 210; bus electrodes 250 formed on the transparent electrodes 220 along the longitudinal direction of the transparent electrodes 220; and black matrixes 230 and 240 formed in parts corresponding to areas between discharge cells adjacent to each other on the surface of the upper substrate 210 with the transparent electrodes 220 formed thereon and between the transparent electrodes 220 and the bus electrodes 250. The black matrixes 230 and 240 are formed by using a black paste composition containing a heat-resistant black pigment formed of MnCo2O4 (manganese-cobalt composite oxide).
