To provide a black screen providing sufficient contrast even in a dark room and providing a high-grade image with good tightness of black, and a method of efficiently manufacturing the black screen at a low cost.
The black screen contains a black colorant in a film having a microhole structure. The aspect that the film having the microhole structure is a honeycomb-like porous film produced by self-organization; the aspect that the film is obtained by applying a coating liquid containing an organic solvent, a high-molecular compound, and a black colorant on a support, forming droplets in the obtained film, and evaporating the organic solvent and the droplets; the aspect that the black colorant is carbon black; the aspect that the content of the black colorant is 0.01 to 50 mass% of the film material; the aspect that the film material is at least one kind selected from a hydrophobic polymer and amphiphilic polymer; and the aspect that the film has transparent particulate in at least one hole of the film, are more preferable.
