To provide a black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material excellent in image tone and excellent further in storage stability, and an image forming method.
The black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material has, on at least one surface of a support, an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent for silver ions and a binder, wherein the black-and-white heat developable photosensitive material contains a reducing agent for silver ions represented by formula (I), a coupler capable of forming a dye by reaction with the oxidized product of the above compound, and an antifading agent. The image forming method is also provided. In the formula, R1-R4 each independently represent H or a substituent; R5 and R6 each independently represent alkyl, aryl, a heterocyclic group, acyl or sulfonyl; R1 and R2, R3 and R4, R5 and R6, R2 and R5, or/and R4 and R6 may bond to each other to form a 5-, 6- or 7-membered ring; and R7 is a blocking group.
