Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a blanket for fusion reactor in which overcooling problem of tritium breeder due to cooling water channel on the side wall of blanket container is solved.

CONSTITUTION: Overcooling problem is solved by placing a thermal insulating member 8, i.e., a woven fabric of stainless steel wires as thin as 50μm or less, between a can 5 filled with tritium breeder 2 and the side walls 1a, 1b of blanket. Thermal insulation effect equivalent to that of conventional ceramic thermal insulation member can be achieved. Furthermore, tritium adsorption problem by the thermal insulation member can also be solved using quite thin stainless steel wires while enhancing workability.
