To improve the bleaching performance of a peroxy compd. at a low temp. by combining transition metals with a ligand having a specified structure having a specified number of coordinative nitrogen atoms in the molecule in which the center nitrogen is made tertiary nitrogen.
This catalyst consists of transition metals and a ligand expressed by formula I having three coordinative nitrogen atoms in which the center nitrogen is made to tertiary nitrogen. In the formula, R1, R2 may be same or different and are hydrogen or substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon groups, m is 0 to 3, n is 0 to 3, R3 is a substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon group or ether group-contg. hydrocarbon group, A and B may be same or different and are expressed by formulae II to V (R4, R5, R7, R8 may be same or different and are hydrogen, hydroxyl groups or substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon groups, R6 is hydrogen, substd. or unsubstd. hydrocarbon group, hydrocarbon oxy group or the like, or hydroxyl group and q is 2 to 7). Thereby, effective bleaching by a peroxy compd. for stains or the like can be carried out at a room temp.
