PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of toxic or harmful gas when mixed with an acid by incorporating a specified surface active agent into a bleaching detergent containing a hypobromite.

CONSTITUTION: The composition contains a hypobromite and a surface active agent selected from among a salt of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether sulfate, a salt of polyoxyethylene alkylphenyl ether sulfate, a salt of polyoxyethylene secondary alkyl sulfate, an aromatic phosphoric ester, a triethanolamine salt of an alkyl sulfate, a polyoxyethylene alkylphenyl ether, a polyoxyethylene polystyrylphenyl ether, a polyoxyethylene polypropylene glycol, a fatty acid ester of polyoxyethylene sorbitan, a trialkylamine oxide, a polynuclear phenol ethoxylate, an alkylamide betaine, and an alkyldimethylbenzylammonium salt.
