Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve storage stability and color development, by blocking a coupler with a specified substituent.
CONSTITUTION: To prevent deterioration of graininess even in the excessive presence of the oxidized product of a developer, a magenta coupler used in this invention has general formula (I) in which Q is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a pyrazolotriazole, pyrazolobenzimidazole, or indazolone type magenta coupler together with N atom; R1-SOl-CH-R2 is a blocking group, and after reaction with an oxidized developer, it is released from the coupler; R1 is alkyl or aryl; R2 is -CN, -NO, -CONHR, -COOR, -COR, -SO2R, -SOR, or -COOH; R is same as R1; and l is 1 or 2.
