Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject improver promising physiologically active function such as blood sugar level increase inhibitory effect, safe and easy to take orally by including a decomposition product of royal jelly formed by the action of protease.
SOLUTION: This blood glucose level increase inhibitor comprises a decomposition product of royal jelly formed by the action of protease, The decomposition product consists mainly of a peptide pref. ≤3,000 in molecular weight, being obtained by the following process: at least two kinds of protease preferably differing in site of action on a substrate are added either simultaneously or sequentially to a royal jelly suspension followed by holding the suspension at room temperature or higher to carry out an enzyme reaction; wherein the above two or more kinds of protease to be used are e.g. acidic protease, neutral protease, alkaline protease, each originated from microorganisms or plants, digestive enzymes derived from mammals such as pepsin and pancreatin. It is preferable that, when to be added to a drink or the like, the above decomposition product is at 0.5-3 wt.% on a dry basis.
