Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the corrosion of a metallic base from occurring even at the time of sealing failure by containing a rust preventive pigment in a body sealer which uses those of polymeric material, plasticizer, filler and adhesive additive as the main component, and seals a joint in applying or filling these elements to the joint of a metallic panel. CONSTITUTION:A body sealer consists of polymeric materials including synthetic resin and synthetic rubber or the like, and a plasticizer, a filler, an amine adhesive additive, a stabilizer, a diluent, containing a rust preventive pigment in about 22-16wt.%of calcium carbonate as much as about 10-16wt.% as the filler, and thus corrosion resistance is given to the body sealer itself. Consequently, supposing that a crack due to working failure at the time of sealing treatment and deterioration in the body sealer 1 itself occurs, a clearance is produced between a joint 4 between metallic panels 2, 3 and the body sealer 1, and a corrosive factor of rainwater or the like is penetrated in, a protective layer 5 is formed on a metallic base surface by action of the rust preventive pigment, so that direct corrosion on the metallic base is prevented or reduced, so that rust or the like is prevented from gathering.
