To provide a bookbinding apparatus and a bookbinding method capable of performing bookbinding so that respective edges of a sheet and a tape do not deviate from each other.
A bookbinding apparatus 1 performs bookbinding by affixing a tape 102 to one edge of a stacked sheet 101. The bookbinding apparatus 1 includes a thermal head 57 for performing printing on the tape 102. A conveyance roller 41 conveys the printed tape 102, on which printing has been performed by the thermal head 57, toward the downstream side. The printed tape 102 is arranged on an extension surface 311 of a first heater 31. The bookbinding apparatus 1 includes an abutment portion 21 that abuts on an edge on the upstream side in a conveyance direction of the stacked sheet 101 to regulate a position of the stacked sheet 101. The conveyance roller 41 conveys an edge on the upstream side in the conveyance direction of the printed tape 102 to the abutment portion 21. A heater 30 heats an adhesive applied to the tape 102. The stacked sheet 101 is made to adhere to the tape 102 with the heated adhesive.
