To provide a bookbinding device which enables energy saving, cost reduction, and inhibits the generation of smell, and further, shortens a time required for resetting a temperature of paste to an appropriate temperature level for application without impairing the device by precisely controlling a temperature of a heater after a bookbinding process, and a bookbinding system.
This bookbinding device forms a paper bundle by matching a plurality of pieces of paper sent from an imaging device and manufactures booklets by applying the paste to the spine of the paper bundle. In addition, the device comprises a storage member for storing the paste, a pivoting member which pivots in contact with the paste in the storage member, a heater which melts the paste in the storage member and heats the paste until its temperature reaches a set temperature, and a control means which switches the set temperature from a first set temperature level at the time of a bookbinding process to a second set temperature level which is higher than the melting point of the paste and lower than the first set temperature when a bookbinding job ends.
