When an instruction transmitted from a host apparatus 20 to an analysis control part 101 of a booklet printer 10 orders printing, print data are analyzed, a transfer instruction for a booklet is sent to a transfer control part 104 controlling the whole of a transfer path and a printing preparation instruction is sent to a printing information formation part 113 which instructs a printing control part 112 controlling a printing engine 111. Following the insertion of a paper, a transfer motor 108 is driven thereby rotating a transfer roller 401, and a page recognition part 6 reads a booklet type and a page identification code applied to the booklet. From a result of the recognition, a correction operation part 107 carries out for every page correction corresponding to a thickness and a curvature of a binding margin of the booklet to control the transfer of the booklet.
