Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a new 2,2'-diimidazole derivative having improved characteristics and usefull, particularly, as epoxy catalysts, diamines for obtaining a new polyamide having an imidazole structural unit, and complexing agents for preventing corrosion.
CONSTITUTION: 1,1'-Bis(3-aminopropyl)-2,2'-diimidazole expressed by formula I can be prepared by reacting 2,2'-diimidazole of the formula II with acrylonitrile of formula III in the presence of basic catalysts at from 80 to 150°C and thereafter executing hydrogenation with excess hydrogen in the presence of ammonia on catalysts contg. Co, Ni, Rh and/or noble metals at from 40 to 200°C under a pressure from 10 to 200 bar.
