To obtain a braid having enhanced flexure recoverability, stably maintaining the shape, even when containing water, scarcely causing the deformation of the braid, and suitable of producing hats, etc., by flatly braiding raw yarns containing one or more chemical monofilaments having strong stiffness in the constituting fibers.
This braid is obtained by flatly braiding raw yarns 3 containing one or more highly stiff chemical monofilaments such as polyester monofilaments or nylon monofilaments in the constituting fibers such as hemp fibers 4. The braid is preferably produced by replacing some raw yarns among the raw yarns 3 by the highly stiff chemical monofilaments 5 and subsequently flatly braiding the replaced monofilaments with the remaining raw yarns 3. A fat is preferably prepared by spirally winding the braid, sewing the wound braid and subsequently molding the sewed braid.
