PURPOSE: To improve the operating efficiency for exchanging a bobbin carrier, etc., by detachably placing the bobbin carrier for filling yarn in a housing shelf installed in a braider.

CONSTITUTION: This braider for knitting a braid is obtained by engaging both ends of shelf members 23 along guide grooves 21 and 21' of horizontal guide members 22 and 22' attached between opposite supports 20 of the braider supporting the top and bottom plates, inserting the minor axis of a lower flange in a nearly elliptical shape of each bobbin carrier (C) for filling yarn (e) into a gap of opposite nipping parts of holding members installed in the shelf members 23 by rotating operation of the bobbin carrier (C), then rotating the bobbin carrier (C) by about 90°, opposing and fixing the major axis part between the nipping parts and withdrawing the bobbin carrier (C). The shelf members 23 and all are pulled out and exchanged in exchanging the bobbin carrier (C).
