A braiding machine 10 comprising a plurality of bobbins 11 supplying wire materials 3 from an outer side of its diameter direction toward an outer peripheral surface of a core material 2 being transferred in an axial direction, the machine for braiding the wire materials supplied from the respective bobbins on the outer peripheral surface of the core material, comprises a cylindrical guide unit 18 disposed on the upstream side of a braiding start point, at which the ware materials are started to be braided on the outer peripheral surface of the core material, in the transfer direction of the core material, the unit having the inside through which the core material passes. The guide unit is formed in such a concave surface shape that its inner peripheral surface is brought into slidable contact with the outer peripheral surface of the core material and its outer peripheral surface is gradually reduced in diameter from the upstream side to the downstream side in the transfer direction, and guides the wire materials to the braiding start point along the transfer direction while bringing the wire materials into slidable contact with its outer peripheral surface.
