PURPOSE: To read the braille points at high speed and with high accuracy by constructing the device so as to maintain the reading conditions constant.
CONSTITUTION: On the transparent plate 6 bent in an arc shape, the braille points original 7 is placed with the protruded portions directed outside and set, tightly contacting the plate 6. The rotating member 8 provided with the optical reading head 11 is driven by the motor 9 and the belt 10. The reading head 11 rotates along the inner portion of the plate 6 and scans. The light source 13 is disposed on an extending axis of the rotating member 8 and the light of equal intensity of illumination is illuminated diagonally with respect to the braille points paper on the scanning line. The rotating member 8, the motor 9, the light source 13 and the photoelectric conversion element are fixed onto the subscanning table 17, and the positional relation thereof is always constant. The subscanning table 17 is connected to the belt 18 and driven by two pulleys 19, 20 and the subscanning motor 21 on the scanning axes 22, 23.
