Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a brake circuit for a single phase series commutator motor in which the cost is reduced while prolonging the service life.
CONSTITUTION: The brake circuit for a single phase series commutator motor comprises a main winding MW for driving an armature M, and a brake winding BW for braking the armature M wherein the armature M is driven or braked by switching the connection of the main winding MW and the brake winding BW through a single pole double throw switch SW1. In such brake circuit, a single pole switch SW2 is disposed between the brake winding BW and a common contact X of the armature M and the main winding MW. The switches SW1, SW2 isolate a high voltage appearing between the main winding MW and the brake winding BW at the time of driving the armature M and prevent field layer short thus attaining a long service life.
