In the brush device 1 which includes a brush 10 which slides on the peripheral face of the commutator 40 of a motor, a brush holder 20 which holds the brush 10 shiftably, and a brush spring 30 which energizes the brush 10 to the side of the commutator 40, the rear end face 12 of the brush 10 pressed by the brush spring 30 is made so that a face to abut on the spring 30 in the initial stage of the abrasion of the brush may be larger in tilt angle, and that a face to abut on the brush spring 30 in the terminal stage of the brush may be smaller in tilt angle.
