Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound having a prolyl endopeptidase-inhibiting activities and useful for treatment or the like of amnesia, dementia or the like.

CONSTITUTION: This new compound is a compound of the formula (R is a 1-4C alkyl, preferably methyl or ethyl). The compound of the formula is obtained by culturing BU-4164A or B-producing microorganism (ATCC55001) belonging to the genus Streptomyces in an aqueous solution of a nutrient medium containing assimilable source of carbon and nitrogen under submerged aerobic condition.
