PURPOSE: To enable micro bubbles which have entered the blood and are invisible to eyes to be readily removed by radiating ultrasonic waves to allow the micro bubbles to grow.
CONSTITUTION: A greater part of bubbles in the arterial blood stored in an artificial cardio-pulmonary blood storage part are removed by the blood filter and air trap in the artifitial cardio-pulmonary device but it further contains micro bubbles and therefore the arterial blood 12 is sent to an ultrasonic radiation part 7 by a pump 4 through blood feed tubes 5, 6. Here, the micro bubbles in the arterial blood 12 are grown by radiation of ultrasonic waves and are also grown by collision of the bubbles caused in the ultrasonic sound field. The arterial blood 12 containing these grown bubbles is sent through a blood feed tube 9 to a filter 10, where it is made to the bubble-free arterial blood which is then returned into the human body through an arterial blood feed tube 11.
