To provide a buffer device for an elevator capable of easily switching height in response to respective stop positions of a car at usual operation and maintenance work of the elevator, certainly preventing damage of the car at maintenance work and effectively utilizing a space in a hoistway.
The buffer device for the elevator is provided with a buffer at the maintenance work having a base body 4 provided in a hoistway pit of the elevator and a shock-absorbing body 6 at the maintenance work upwardly projected on an upper end of the base body 4; and a buffer at the usual operation having a support 7 detachably provided on the base body 4 and a shock-absorbing body 9 at the usual operation provided projectively upwardly on an upper end of the support 7 and arranged just above the shock-absorbing body 6 at the maintenance work. The height of the shock-absorbing body 6 at the maintenance work is made corresponding to the stop position of the car at the maintenance work of the elevator and the height of the shock-absorbing body 9 at the usual operation is made corresponding to the stop position of the car at the usual operation of the elevator.
